In 2 weeks and 3 days I will attempt to complete the BIGGEST athletic race of my life!
I have been training for months now, there have been a lot of early mornings, tired eyes, tears, doubts and some moments where I catch myself saying “maybe you have overestimated your ability this time Kate”.
The start line is in my sight, excitement is building and with only a handful of ‘meaty’ training sessions to go I am starting to relax a little and I’m also starting to trust that I have done enough training to get me through.
I am certainly looking forward to the challenge ahead of me in 2 weeks and 3 days time. I am looking forward to sharing my accomplishment with all those who have supported me along the way (too many to name in this post, I will list them in another one soon).
On this 1/2 ironman journey I have learnt many things about myself, what I like and don’t like, environments I thrive in and how to listen / trust my body more.
If I could mention one stand out realisation it would be that I now know I am a happier person when I am surrounded by like minded, goal-orientated people, the image below captures a great moment with some very inspirational people athletes.

We survived a murky 2km swim, 60km ride in the wind and a 12km run in the rain!
